A wonderful ds exclusive final fantasy experience that no true fan of the series should go without playing.
The crystals grant you power in the form of "crowns" which once placed in the head of that character, gives them the ability of that particular crown. It kind of relates to the job change system from final fantasy tactics. A very popular system I might add. On a different note, mp has been totally destroyed, leaving in its wake, action points, which is in the form of five empty orbs under the characters hit points. Each ap slot goes up by one on every turn or you can always boost, which is a defense system that allows you to recover two action points instead of one. Learning abilities are also a little different. Enemies drop what are called gems, which can be used to power up crowns to learn different moves specific to that job; magic however is bought from stores and equipped on to a character in one of six ability slots. This concept is pretty good and allows for cool customization. Once you get the hang of the "crown and action points" system is time to go on with the story. Basically all the kingdoms have fallen into one of the seven deadly sins. Greed, Sloth, Rage and etc. At the root of all this chaos their are dark lords that you have to beat the crap out of until your final showdown with the darkest of dark ones.
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light is a charming game, with story book type visuals, cute characters, and a classic story of good vs evil. All these points make this game a winner, the only draw back i saw, was that at times it was necessary to level grind a little too much, being that the mosters were just really harder at times than they should have been.
