FFV is the first Final Fantasy with a truly wonderful CLASS system.

User Rating: 9.2 | Final Fantasy V PS
Final Fantasy V is one of the best in the series. From its monumentally awesome class system to its fantastic story and characterization, FFV is a must have for any fan of the RPG genre. Gameplay: Final Fantasy V is, imo, the best of the main Final Fantasy games (I-X) for a class system. As you progress through the game more and more classes become available for use, and you can switch to them, or continue on as the classes you are at. Classes level up so that more spells or useful skills become available to you over time. A large part of FFV is obviously having to do with the classes. Obtaining them is a good amount of the story as well. The battle system is normal turn based FF fare. Your characters have a guage that builds up, and the enemies attack in between attacks by your characters. Some classes allow you to do different things in battle, such as a Monk, which counterattacks. The storyline is great, and, as I said before, the classes play a good role in it. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say anything further, though it does have a few good twists in it. Graphics: Graphically, it is good for SNES, but not spectacular. Sound: Like just about any FF game, the sound quality in FFV is amazing. The music from the overworld to the battles, all of it is awesome. The sound effects are also suitable, although a few could have been done a little better. Value: The class system adds an enormous amount of replay value to this already awesome game. You will undoubtedly spend many hours playing through FFV over and over. Tilt: In my opinion, FFV is one of the best Final Fantasy games to be created. Hopefully in the futures some FF will achieve the kind of class system that V did.
