If you're an RPG fan and haven't played the original Final Fantasy VI, you need to play this game.
Presentation: The story is absolutely amazing. Along with FFVII, the best story in any game ever made. The controls and interface are nothing special but work just fine , and never get in your way. The production costs aren't exactly high, but I'll let that slide because, if you're already playing a 2d remake of a 1994 game, does it really matter? 10/10
Graphics: For the time, the graphics of FFVI were very good. Re-released for the 2nd time now (see:Final Fantasy Anothology on the PSX), you'd think they'd update the sprites and animations, but unfortunately, they did not. Environments and backgrounds are still very detailed, but the overworld looks so bad you can't tell a town from a tree when you're on a chocobo or in an airship. Framerates occasionally stutter when you're fighting, oh say, 5 big monsters and you summon bahamut, but it's rarely noticeable. Still, the game looks good enough, though they really should have improved. 8/10
Sound: Again, along with FFVII, the best soundtrack in gaming history. You will never forget such tunes as Terra's Theme, and Kefka's Theme, and the music always fits the mood. NONE of the game's tracks are less-then-stellar. The sound quality is inferior to the SNES if you're playing on a GBA, however. But if you're playing on a DS, you'll be fine. 10/10
Gameplay: It uses the best Final Fantasy combat system, the ATB system. There are an enormous amount of skills, summons, magic, and special attacks to use, making for very fun battles. From Sabin's fighting game-like blitz commands, to Cyan's bushido (previously called swordtech) you can charge up for better skills, the combat is very, very good, even surpassing FFVII. 10/10
Lasting Appeal: The game itself lasts about 30-40 hours, which isn't the most in the series, but is still very good. After that, you have a huge number of side-quests, minigames, extra bosses, and a generally big number of things to do that can take over 30 hours themselves. 10/10
