A phenomenon, pure and simple.
User Rating: 10 | Final Fantasy VI SNES
When this game came out, it blew all other RPGs in existence out of the water. Final Fantasy VI, or III as it was labelled in North America, raised the bar and set new standards for graphics, music, and most importantly for the depth of the storyline. It comes with a great cast, all of whom have very distinct personalities and abilities in battle. It also has two of the most kick@ss women ever to be part of an RPG cast: Terra and Celes. The game is no slouch in terms of length, either. There is a whole world out there to explore, and the world changes part of the way through the game to give you even more territory to explore. As if the game couldn't find more ways to make its epic contribution to the RPG world, the designers also included an opera of all things as an integral plot event. This is just one of the many highlights of a game that some would argue has yet to be bested.
New RPGs have come and gone; they've added newer, better technologies for their graphics and sound, but this is where the standard of quality comes from. This game stands the test of time.
