It's been 13 years since this game's release. The fact that I didn't play it until now still makes me pissed at myself.

User Rating: 10 | Final Fantasy VI SNES
I considered myself an RPG fan. A SNES RPG fan, no less, all the time since I first played Secret of Mana back in '95. Since then, I've played all the classics, Seiken Densetsu 3, Tales of Phantasia, Chrono Trigger and so on. I also tried the Final Fantasy series, with FF IV and V. They didn't really get me hooked, so I didn't even play them through. I also didn't bother to try the last FF game for the Super Nintendo, FF III/VI. Boy do I regret that now.

I tried the game. And it had me hooked instantly. And I must say, after completing it, that it was 47 very well-spent hours.

This game has everything a good RPG should have. But no, wait - this was the game which sat those standards. Fantastic story, which evolves from the standard RPG story into something truly epic. The gameplay is also way above average of what you would expect from a 13 year old game; it has a massive 14 playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and even special abilities, tons of spells, all mixed into an easy-to-learn and addictive battle system. The graphics are in my opinion perhaps the best on the SNES. 2D, of course, but greatly animated. From the small character sprites to the badass bosses, all are very detailed. When it comes to the music, I am not hesitant to it the best game music ever. Simply outstanding, and especially considering it's a Super Nintendo game. The endboss theme, Dancing Mad, more than 17 minutes long, must be the most brilliant and epic game theme ever.

It's a lot more I could say about the game, but what should I say that's not already been said? Final Fantasy III (or VI, as it really is) is one of the games that you simply must play unless you totally despise RPGs.

To think that I considered myself an RPG fan - and not having played this game.
