One of the most epic Final Fantasy games ever made!
***SPOLIERS***
The story begins with Terra who is the main character in this game. She is being used by the Empire for her special abilities. Terra is half human and half esper. The game takes place a thousand years after the war of the magi. During the war many people died, and many espers were destroyed for their magic. Ever since the war, magic has been completely eliminated from current civilization. Since Terra can use magic she is seen as a weapon. She is later saved and is taken on a journey to learn about her past and to fight for the humans and espers. Along the journey she meets numerous other people who help her in the fight. After discovering her past and how she was created, Kefka is on the verge of starting another war of the magi. Terra and her allies must do whatever it costs to stop Kefka from taking over the world.

This game has so much going for it like many other of the Final Fantasy games. But some aspects of the game make it better than the most of the other entries in the Final Fantasy series. For me I loved the huge cast of characters. It isn't mandatory to get every character, but if you get them all there are around 15 characters in all. Some of the characters are thrown in at the end of the game to fight Kefka, but there are 10 characters who have a story to tell. Each character is well developed with a short history of why they chose to fight and what they fight for. There is great character interaction between all the characters. There are great friendships formed and even a love story or two. Also being able to use up to 12 of the characters in the final battle against Kefka made it a truly epic final boss battle.
Like I mention in every Final Fantasy review the music is amazing. Nobuo Uematsu is great. The main 10 characters all have great theme songs. Plus Dancing Mad is an awesome final boss battle song. There really aren't any songs I disliked.
The graphics are great for a GBA game. Characters, enemies, and backgrounds are as developed as they probably can be. I really hope to see a 3D version of this game some day, it would make the game so much more appealing.
The battle system that is used is the active time battle system. Its a personal favorite of mine. Along with equipping swords and armor; characters were able to equip accessories called relics. Relics have the ability to increase strength, magic, or create immunities to certain status ailments. As you progress through the game you gain more espers. You can then equip these espers to a character and then they can learn different magic spells. It kind of reminded me of the junction system in Final Fantasy VIII, but not as confusing.
Final Fantasy VI has a lot of amazing qualities. It has everything you would expect from a Final Fantasy game plus more. There is hardly anything to complain about. If you're looking for a great RPG this is a must play game.
