A true fan service indeed and may interest some who do not know Final Fantasy. This film is just remarkebly fantastic.
Everything is beautiful. The ground, the flowers, the dirt, the cement road, people, their clothes, skin, hair - -AIYA what more can I say!!:?!!?! It's so great!! REALISTIC!! And seeing fightscenes are just simply impossible to think a human can do such a thing. The minds of Tetsuya Nomura really works well in mixing both realism and anime to make the world of FINAL FANTASY. Action sequences are heart pumping and just simply incredible!!
Now the story, which I've heard, didn't run smoothly and was very "corrupted". I wouldn't agree of course unless I see it for myself and I did. The story really did it well in at first, introduce the movie showing the past significant events of FINAL FANTASY VII that'll later show the after effects in the movie. It also introduced the new antagonists of the movie really well. As for the other characters (Tifa, Cloud, etc), they appeared and sounded the way I expected them to be from the game from '97. It seems like I knew these characters very well just by watching them comparing from FFVII and AC - felt like it was really 2 years after and I still know them. And the story just runs pretty good for the fans of FF (of course, this may depend on how people look at them so they don't corner me and beatm e up on this one).
The soundtrack - it really boots up the movie's works in scenes. Nobuo Uematsu really has done well for this soundtrack in filmworks, which I really think other movies should hire him at one point in holloywood movies. The scene in where Bahamut was summoned, the soundtrack was presenting a theme of an "apocolypse" and heck it's not terrifying yet it got me scared a little!!:?:D It's like Bahamut's own theme. And for other scenes, they use themes from the original game and I wouldn't say improvised (other then ONE WINGED ANGEL!!), they fit in well. The piano solos and the rock music in it - -WOW. It was a fusion of classical and rock and they fit in very well. I can feel the heart and soul for the soundtrack in this film for it really hits you to the bottom of your stomach. And with 5.1 surround experience is definently theatrical.
The bonus disc like gives you the making and stuff and they really are worth watching - especially for fans who are interested in the minds of the creators, which in whom we should highly credit:D
Now I feel like my review skills here are a bit weak:? but I just thought I should share you this experience. Yes the film is not perfect, but it's just a killer of a joyride for the fans of FFVII. Even watching it again and again, it's just worth the watch:D I just can't get enough of it!! I can't think up on how much this film could've been better!! (and I dunno why people overate these days...but then again, opnions are opnions - even this one:?)
