An excellent follow-up to the game!
Graphics: Wow! Whenever I watch this movie, I'm always simply blown away by the pure awesomeness of the visuals in this movie! They are better than anything that I've seen in a Final Fantasy game before, and all of the characters looks very realistic (while still maintaining that Final Fantasy look). The only real flaw is that they kept the japanese lip-syncing for the English versoin. This means that their mouths move in odd ways, even when they're saying the simplest of sentences. Still, lip-syncing problems aside, Final Fantsy VII: Advent Children is one of the most visually-stunning things that I've ever seen, and I doubt even the PS3 versions of Final Fantasy will have graphics this good!
Sound: As with every other Final Fantasy game, Advent Children's soundtrack is very good! The music matches each situation nicely, and really sets the mood for the movie. The infamous Final Fantasy victory music even makes an appearance, which will make you laugh pretty hard! The voice acting is also nicely done, and pretty much every character sounds as you expected they would when playing the original Final Fantasy VII. Overall, the audio in Advent Children is nicely done!
Value: Final Fantasy VII is a movie that runs approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, it's also got a bunch of extras. For example, there's a recap of the original Final Fantasy VII's story, which will take a bit of time to watch. There's also past trailers of the movie and deleted scenes to be viewed, as well as a few other neat tidbits for you to explore. The movie itself is also such a great movie that you'll definitely be seeing it more than once. Some people even claim to have seen it over a dozen times without tiring of it, so there's definitely many hours to be spent on this movie. I personally have the DVD version, which is a few dollars cheaper than the PSP version (although it's not a portable version), though if you get the portable version you will probably be spending more time watching the movie (since it's a portable version and available to watch anywhere!). Still, no matter what version you choose, you will still get some pretty good value out of this purchase.
Tilt: Overall, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is my favourite action movie of all time! While it tends to concentrate on action more than story, it manages to pull this off pretty well to deliver the kind of stellar experience that most have come to expect from a Final Fantasy. Although you might not understand what's going on storywise if you've never played the original FFVII, I still recommend this movie to everyone simply because it's so action-packed and fun to watch. So, did Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children live up to the hype? You bet it did! Advent Children is 2006's must-see movie, and a must-own for movie-goers and gamers alike.
