All I got to say is...wow

User Rating: 9.1 | Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children PSP
At first I wondered how the movie would be, but I knew it would be good. I just...didn't expect to like it so much! For anybody who never played Final Fantasy VII back on PS1, people not knowing the story, you might not know what's going on like..why all of this is happeneing and all the happenings of who what and when. I know the DVD has a reminiscense of FFVII which is a nice addition that isn't on the UMD. On with the movie..

My first thoughts when the movie started were: "that's beautiful" and well..it was expected. Anything wearing the name "Final Fantasy" nowadays is a pretty sight. The animation and graphics and all of it is just perfect. I found it to fit pretty well with the game. Of course it's all enhacned graphics and very different from the game, that's evolution. Yet, it feels so familiar just seeing it that you fall right within the FFVII world, you can't help it. There are new characters introduced but worry not (not like you had to..and anyway the new guys are pretty nice to me) the good old gang is back. I mean it's literally watching FFVII taking life before your eyes. It isn't you anymore who does it, but you see it happen. For this, the story had to be good and they didn't messed up on this, but personally, I believe it could of been better. Oh, and about the characters, some of 'em you just can't wait to see if you haven't watched the movie yet. Big hint? starts with an S. Could be anyone! but not really. Ya'll know who it is and he's pretty impressive. Let's stick with the story. The story is there, but don't await a typical movie story style. Sometimes it goes a while without anybody talking, hope you like alot of action cause it has plenty of it. I felt more like I was watching an almost 2hours FF game cinematic than an actual movie and it is a reason to why I enjoyed it so much. I mean the first part of the story is from a game..so you learned all of it by PLAYING the game. We all know watching a movie, and playing a game feels differently and often playing a game feels deeper for it is you who controls the entire thing. So in a way, the movie had to stay within this kind of realm and they did it successfully. Since the DVD has bonus content that the UMD doesn't have, it could possibly affect my rating. Unfortunately, I still didn't watched any of the bonus content of the DVD, so I can't relate to it. I did look out at what they added behind the DVD box, and they seem to be the typical bonuses every DVD has, so it's really up to you, wether you want the bonus content and/or the movie on TV, or you could care less about the bonus and/or you absolutly want this in UMD. Whichever you prefer, the UMD is pretty neat and got my bus ride alot less boring.

Anyway I believe that's all I can say about the movie, if i look back I probably could write more, but to tell ya, I'm tired and this review has gone long enough for me. All in all, this is a great movie for anybody who played (and enjoyed) Final Fantasy VII, and can be good to any who never played it or ignore its existence, depending wether or not you care about knowing the origins, but then you'd better rent it instead of buying it then. Otherwise, I highly suggest this movie.
