Revolutionary? It was...

How do you review a game like this? I guess I have to make it as simple as possible.

When it came out the FMVs were revolutionary. They are still impressive now considering it was 1997. Other than that, I can only call the graphics 'cute'. The gameplay is standard RPG action, the fighting is solid, the magic system is classic. The music doesn't even need mention. All you need to know about the tunes is this: Nobou. The characters were some of the best, complete with some of the most cliche'd storylines and backgrounds we have seen since. You can see how popular these anime-styled character are by seeing how many paintings of Sephiroth kissing Cloud there are out there....not something you want to see again and again when searching for quality fan art. This is in no way the best FF in the series. I loved this game every time i beat it. It will never get old. But again, this is in no way the best in the series. I won't go on to say what is in this review, but here is a hint: the best FF certainly didn't come out after 7, and it wasn't # 1. I will swallow my pride and admit that this game is what got me into RPGs. A huge, HUGE chunk of RPG fans also saw the light with this game, even if they won't admit it.

If you like RPGs in any way and havn't played this, please stop pouting. Just play it. Whether you like the idea or not, this game is what most popular RPGs will be compared to for years by average fans of the genre. Just play it, love it, play it again. If the sorry graphics (by today's standards) is what turns you off, please stop playing games.
