Overall a good game, but not one of the best in the series.
The gameplay was quite not very inticing and quite repetitive. The battles were easy at almost every point in the game and the battle system itself was hard to get the hang of. The idea was nice, but it was far too complicated with so many things to equip and change all the time. And the magic absorbing was a really lame idea.
The graphics on the other hand were exquisite, especially for a PS1 game. The CG was amazing and could almost compare to that of X. I do wish that the CG scenes had had voices, but the main theme that they played was a nice song and made up for it. Even though the battle graphics were a little choppy, you have to look at how old this game is in comparison with Final Fantasy XII.
The music was not one of Nobuo Uetmatsu's best soundtracks. The battle music in the main world was extremely annoying and most of the town's songs made me want to bang my head against a wall. But the music in the dream world with Laguna was much better. I loved that battle theme. I'd say this game is a must play for all Final Fantasy fans, but not for the rest. If you love a romantic storyline with non-challenging gameplay though, check this one out.
