This is the way RPG's were meant to be

User Rating: 9.6 | Final Fantasy X (Mega Hits!) PS2
Final Fantasy X is the "10th" entry in the Final Fantasy series. The story revolves around a young man named Tidus whose hometown of Zanarkand is destroyed by a monster known as Sin. While Sin is destroying his home town, he is mysteriously taken from Zanarkand by Sin to a place distant from where he is. After this happens, a series of events unfold as Tidus joins up with a group of guardians protecting a summoner who is determined to destroy Sin. The graphics in this game take the Final Fantasy Series in a new direction, the amount of detail to the environment, character models, etc. makes the game a pleasure to look at. It also is a very colorful game. The environments are very creative if not stylish. Perhaps one of the main highlights on FFX is sound. Unlike other Final Fantasy games, the characters speak dialogue, which is new for the Final Fantasy series. The voice-acting is very well done and you can tell that the voice actors really put emotion into their performances. There are also alot of voice actors in the game so it never sound like you're talking to the same person again. It's because of voice-acting that the Final Fantasy series can take a more "cinematic" approach to everything. The music in FFX is also more grand and instrumental than previous Final Fantasy games, which sounded more like electric piano music in some parts of the music. So expect no "electric piano" music in this game The gameplay takes a different approach in some respects, as you are no longer roaming around the world by running from town to town on an open map. Instead you will travel from town to town by walking without walking around in an open world. Some FF Fans will either love it or hate it. The combat system hasn't made any major changes so you'll catch on fairly quickly. Also the tutorials that you were forced to read in the previous games are now optional and can be accessed VIA the menu or certain panels as you travel. The leveling system that was around in previous games has taken a different approach, the Sphere Grid. The Sphere Grid is a huge map which a player has to follow in order to level up. Certain grid slots have to have certain orbs in them in order to raise a players stats in a certain area. Finding orbs really aren't a worry as you usually gain orbs after combat. The grid system may look complex but it's quite easy to use. FF fans will either love it or hate it. The story is also fairly long, it'll take you about 50 hours to beat if you stick to the story and an additional 20 hours if you do the sidequests, and plus the replay value in this game is something that will make you want to play this game even after you have beaten it. The Final Fantasy Series has revolutionized the RPG genre back when it was out on NES, again with Final Fantasy 3 on SNES, and again with Final Fantasy 7 on Playstation. Although this game isn's as groundbreaking as FF7 was back in 1997, this game still breaks new ground with the direction and new capabilities it makes use of. If you're an RPG fan, a Final Fantasy Fan, or are new to the RPG genre, then pick up this game. People new to the Final Fantasy series or are not exactly big RPG fans will find this game enjoyable.
