Final Fantasy proves it is still king when it comes to console RPGs.
The Case For :-
*Amazing graphics, the graphics from both a technical and artistic standpoint is a high point of the game, as visuals and imagination combine to present you a very believable environment
*Excellent voice acting, flawless voice performance from the cast brings each character to life
*Excellent Music and Theme Song (although the temple music was annoying!)
* Engrossing story, Characters evolve during the course of the 40 hour game, significant unexpected plot twists, touching love angle, playing to advance the story is one of its strong incentives
*Proven battle system still is addicting, with new elements thrown in, one of which is
*New battle mechanics allows different strategies to be adopted at a whim, no longer are you restricted to using 3-4 characters in a battle, participating party members can be "substituted" for out of action party members on the whim, negating the need to create well balanced warrior, black mage. white mage, combo for all battle
*Sphere Grid character advancement system is easy to understand and allows lot of customize options for players who are into experimenting
*Many different strategies, the new sphere grid advancement, along with new battle system substitute system allows very different strategies to be implemented
*Enough Secret Items and Places to keep replay value high
The Case against :-
*Too linear, until the final moments of the game, the game is entirely linear, with few options to diverge from the main arc, unless you prefer to go back and forth and grind
*Too many Full Motion Videos and dialogues, out of the 45 hours normal playing time, a significant proportion of it will be spend going through dialogues and other non control sequences, seems to imitate Metal Gear Solid.
*May be considered "Easy" by veterans
*some characters are obviously more useful then others (*cough* Auron, ), Final Fantasy offers something for everyone, new players of the series will appreciate the easy learning curve and high production values, returning players will enjoy the changes made to the combat system and character advancement, Final Fantasy proves it is still king of RPGs.
