An all time classic RPG

User Rating: 9.5 | Final Fantasy X (Mega Hits!) PS2
Whenever a Final Fantasy game is released, there is always a lot of hype surrounding it, and rightly so. Due to the success of the series it's impossible to grade Final Fantasy games by the same standards by which you'd grade Crash Bandicoot for example.

With its' predecessors revered amongst the great games of all time the question is, does this game match up to its' hype and expectation? All in all the answer is a big yes, I found FFX to be all I expected and so much more, its' vibrant colours, flashy graphics (for the time) and immersive story make it an absolute spectacle to behold and a joy to play.

All in all there is plenty new about this installment of Final Fantasy, gone are the conventional ways of levelling and in comes the Sphere Grid; quite a nice change from the norm in my opinion. In addition the fact summons are now controllable is amazing to behold, especially if you aren't expected to be given the controls for this thing. Of course there is a mini-game within the game.... Blitzball, which can best be described as underwater-water-polo. The battle system in this FF game reverts back to a turn based system which I enjoy and in my opinion should be kept (well this or ATB I dont mind) and not the ridiculous free-roaming system introduced in Final Fantasy XII.

Now there aren't many love stories I can get teary-eyed over but the sheer way this one is pieced together and the attachment built with the main character Tidus and all the other characters, practically reduced me to tears by the end, this game is proof that Square still have their ability to make memorable stories and make the player feel apart of it. I am certainly glad I bought my copy all those years ago, it's a game and story I hold dear to me. I'm sure it'll enthrall you too.
