Five and a half years later and this game still holds up well.
Gameplay: 8
This is your standard turn-based RPG. You have up to three characters on the field at one time and your characters and your enemies take turns attacking each other. The amount of turns and when the character gets their turns is based on their speed. Speed, along with strength, defence, magic, accuracy, etc. is upgraded using the Sphere Grid. Square Enix made it incredibly easy to upgrade your character using this system. They give each character a specific path to follow based on their role in the story, but you can easily switch them over to a different path if you so desire. However, Square Enix made it really easy for newcomers to this series by making it so easy to upgrade your character without making mistakes. If you're a fan of RPGs, and more specifically turn-based RPGs, you'll love this game.

This game looks surprisingly good for being five and half years old. There are amazing CGI cutscenes as well as a few in-game cutscenes that look very impressive in their own credit. All of the environments are very richly detailed and there are some amazing battle effects. Don't feel like you're going to be disappointed just because this game is five and a half years old. The graphics hold up very well.
Sound: 9
Final Fantasy X has some of the best songs in the series. I actually have a couple of them on my iPod. Square Enix has always done very nice work with music in their games and this is no exception. Also, this game has a ton of voice acting, except for some of the unimportant NPCs. The sounds in the game are pretty good, too, which includes everything from background noises to the roars of the aeons you can summon.
Value: 9
This game is 40+ hours long and only costs $19.99 retail. The story is amazing and it will keep you interested for the full 40 hours. Also, replay is loads of fun. This game will keep you busy, at least for a few weeks, anyway. Don't be afraid to pick this one up.
Reviewer's Tilt: 8
This was my first Final Fantasy game. It took me a few months to get into it, but once I understood the concept of the gameplay (it was also my first turn-based RPG, unless you count Pokemon from when I was five) I was hooked. I'll probably play this game over and over again. I recommend this game for everyone.
Overall: 9
This game is a great game and its only fault is a few technical problems which can be excused because it's over five years old. If you haven't tried this game, at least rent it and you will probably pick up a copy of it. This is a great game.
