Perfect, brilliant, this game is undoubtedly a Final Fantasy!
We follow the story of a 17 year old blitz (a aquatic sort of foot and hand ball sport) player who's name is Tidus, which has an apparently disappeared father and is dragged to an otherworld who seems somehow to be connected with his homeland called Spira.
The content of the game is so huge that it's hard to review all of it, there's so much to comment that i'll try to not wonder so much.
The gameplay is flawless, specially for those who played the earlier versions, there's not many changes and we can always enjoy the battle style who can allow you to not worry about time, you can always drink some water or going to the bathroom while earing the song of battle and letting them stand while you do your stuff. The graphics are the best using all or almost of the PS2 engine power. The evolution system is different now have a grid with evolution nodes (learning new abilities or upgrading our capacities which are fundamental for our success in the game) and we need points to explore more of it. The weapons and armour can be upgraded with new abilities as long as they have empty slots. The CG movies are excellent and the music is divine. Nobuo Wematsu did a great piece in Final Fantasy X soundtrack. I learned a little bit of japanese just to understand the great song of the faith wich has not many lyrics but has a profound sense of feeling which makes you enjoy more of the Spira world, and we can hear their voices who makes the game more stronger than ever and brings new sensations for the gamers specially the rock entrance scene which is unforgettable.
Now the role. We have a blitz player from a distant Zanarkand, a summoner called Yuna, who is bound by a father legacy and her own feelings to vanquish an evil being and her guardians who personally have their own virtues and are important to the story who has a surrounding environment in all them i mean they are all connected and they start with the same objective, to destroy the not so unnoticed Sin an evil being who terrorizes Spira by a 1000 years and can only be defeated by summoning the aeons who are spiritual creatures who come alive by the summoners power (and whose summoning scene are better than ever). But this is not end of it, even though summoners die in the process called Final Summoning it reborns and after some time Sin spreads again fear in Spira. In final fantasy we find many relationships who seem to be more matterfull than the hero and villain thing. And the love and friendship feeling is quite remarkable in their quest. The drama between Yuna and Tidus, Tidus and his father Lord Jecht, and drama between all of the characters and Sin is the center of the game.
I can say Final Fantasy X is the best RPG ever. It can compell us to look forward the end of the story, we feel somehow identified by some character and although we are in a different reality we have the same challenges to conquer. Teh words are so meaningful, it has a touch of a great writer who can drown the players into the sea of the words and still we can feel like a fish.
The mix of all elements in the game from the graphics to role, music to battle summoning aeons results on a classic game who attracts not only the hardcore fans of rpg's like me, but those who were not Final Fantasy sympathetisers. I most thank not only Hironobu Sakaguchi for the great time i had when playing that game. And i hope that the lesson i've learnt from Final Fantasy X which is to not forget my friends and dreams and be always faithful to myself and my beliefs, and to not be afraid of my own feelings and to fight for everything i believe and for a better world, and to not let die my dreams and feelings to live like rational feelingless machine, i hope this lessons has been learned from all of us. Long live Final Fantasy!
