give it a chance
I love the music, the menu music reminds me of the old FF, II, III and so on, takes me back to the SNES.
The graphics are lovely best on the Ps2.
The story is memorable and grand in scale, at last a FF game where a city has more than a dozen people, huge areas, dungeons and city's, plenty of side quests and secret items.
Like i said the combat has chanced, but lets welcome change, its an experiment, and i can say i like it, not ore than the old system but not less, its more of a challenge sometimes and its more dynamic, more fluid but its still turn based so strategy is present, give it a chance and you might just fall in love with it.
The gambit and license system does take some getting used to, your characters acting for themselves is quite a new direction and pre-planning is a must, the license system is the weak spot i can say, not knowing where to go with your skills makes you spend skill points on things you don't really want for a character but maybe its just my fault.
In the end if you like FF games and you aren't afraid of a little change you wont be disappointed
