Want to play one of the best RPG's ( and FF's) thus far? FFXII - this one was definitely worth the wait - check out why.
GRAPHICS: For the PS2, the visuals, both in-game and CG, are spectacular. Beautiful, lush landscapes, creative and unique towns and cities, detailed dungeons, fluid enemies. The list goes on. The characters were both designed and executed very well, also. The changing weather was pretty neat, too. I can't say enough about this - you should really see for yourself.
GAMEPLAY: The ADB battle system hit a homerun. It works well - very fluid. Accessing menus, unlocking new licenses, switching characters - all this and more can be done on the fly - even in battle. My main hiccup in this system concerns the use of items. They cannot be used from the main menu - only from the window brought up with the ' x ' button. Overall, though, the gameplay is heading toward a new direction for RPG's. (Also, and in a good way, this battle system has given me a new respect for previous FF's turn-based systems.)
SOUND: Very fitting music for all different moods and areas - dungeons, battles, cut-scenes, etc. I am a little over 40 hours into the game, and I have yet to hear a bad note. STORY: As I have not completed the game, I cannot judge this section accurately. So far, however, I am very pleased. Some parts do move slow, and it can get rather choppy at times, with traveling time between story components often taking a good while to complete, but overall, not bad - a different direction for the FF's, too - no love story so far.
Overall, I think this game was worth every bit of the time waiting for its arrival. Seamless...A game that made evey penny count.
I earnetly recommend this game.
P.S. On a different note, I would hope for two things in the future when reading reviews:
1.) When writing a review, please use proper english and correct grammar - sometimes it is hard to follow some of the gibberish I have read before.
2.) Also, please only review games that you have played first - or at the very least, experienced first-hand the parts of the game that you are reviewing.
Thanks all.
