This is definatley the best send-off game for the PS2!
The graphics are amazing, even if they are not next-gen. Voice actors are able to deliver their lines and feel natural about it. The next best thing is no random encounters, no taking 2 steps go into battle play it out divy out XP then back to the world for another 2 - 5 steps.
There are only a few things that keep this game from being perfect. Biggest thing is the espers, next to the quickenings I really haven't found a practical use for them yet, keeping in mind that I only have 2 right now. The problem I am finding is the lack of mana to heal with, and though I try to keep the summoning character out of the fire, he always goes down before the esper can unleash its final attack, plus overall damage of the espers pales in comparison to a quickening chain, so far most bosses have gone down with 2 or 3 decent quickening chains. The other thing I've noticed is that sometimes the gambits are a little slow to pick up on the action, I have viewed characters with gambits on take as long as 5 seconds to pick up on new targets while other characters are entrenched in the fighting. 40+ hours into the game I'm still waiting to find out why Vaan is the main character, so far it seems most of the party is just along for the ride.
Other then this there isn't enough good things that can be said about the game. Other then to get it and find out for yourself!
