Lacks to many elements to be great.

User Rating: 7.2 | Final Fantasy XII PS2
While the game is fun, it lacks a large amount of elements to be as good as it could be. The characters and their development are poor, the dialogue is childish in execution, the battle system is not right for this genre, and the overall story is weak.
Only a few characters even stand out as interesting. The main character himself is rather boring and his dialogue is the worst of all. The game never goes into developing the characters very well.
The dialogue and much of the voice acting was shameful. It seemed like an eighth grader wrote a lot of it. Lines would come out awkward and leave you with the feeling that the characters were machines that didn't understand speech.
The battle system is not a Final Fantasy battle system. Square stole it from Vangrant Story as well as Final Fantasy online. It felt like the developers wanted to make something new in the fights but didn't want to break a sweat doing so. There was to much change to a tried and true battle method, which will turn many gamers off.
The story line was to star wars to be described as anything else. Other Final Fantasies could be described in this way but not on the blatent level of FF12. It's sad how linear the entire story is to. There are no twists or turns throughout the entire game, you always know what is going to happen.
Overall, the game is just a good rpg, nothing special, NOTHING. The reason for the love everyone else gives it? It's still a Final Fantasy and heaven forbid bad things be said about it.
