Doesn't stand up to final fantasy X, but then again, what game does?

User Rating: 9.7 | Final Fantasy XII PS2
If you asked me what i would have rated the gameplay after my first several hours in the game, it probably would have been around a 6 or 7, but the fighting system had definitely grown on me by the end of the game. Some people have complained that the gambits play the game for you, then the same people go and complain that the game is too hard. So if you feel like that, then be like me and don't use the gambits. Hm, imagine that. There were some very difficult sidequest bosses, but as for the main story, my only complaint could be that it was too EASY, far from hard. I only got two game overs the entire main quest. I loved the characters in this game. Balthier and Fran are now up there with Auron, Lulu, Vincent and Tifa as my favorite final fantasy characters. The only character that I didn't really like in this game was Vaan (and i didn't like Tidus in FFX, i guess we've got a pattern.) All the rest of the characters may compile the best cast for any final fantasy ever. I thought the story was very good, but could be too slow to develop at some points, and wasn't as good as X or VII, but still good enough to keep you interested throughout. The graphics in most of the gameplay in this game i would have given an 8 or a 9, but i bumped it up to 10 just because the quickenings in battle look great, and the cutscenes look incredible. It's final fantasy, of course the sound is a 10.

This game has the most replay value of any final fantasy game. There are so many different weapon classes to choose from, it's insane. Swords, great swords, daggers, bows, crossbows, guns, hand grenades, poles, staves, rods, axes and hammers, maces, ninja swords, katanas, and maybe some more i didnt remember. And also, you won't really use your reserves in this game unless you need a quickening at the end of a boss or something, so with six characters, you could replay the game using the other three. The game is also loaded with sidequests if you like that. I beat the game in about 65 hours(just since Christmas, yeah, i don't have much of a life) and i completed only somewhere around 16 of the 45 (i think that's the right number) hunts, not to mention a few other lengthy sidequests the game has to offer, so you'll definitely get what you paid for and more out of this.
