A compelling and immersive story, comparable to the complex plot you might find in a book.

User Rating: 9.5 | Final Fantasy XII PS2
Square Enix is well renowned for being able to tell a story. Aside from the highly popular Final Fantasy X this installment ranks a close second in my favorites of the series. Almost immediately after beginning the game my intuition told me this would be a story worth remembering. the plot is well developed thoughout, but the ending was a bit abrubt by my standards. Still this game ranks among some of the best i have played yet. I was pleased to see that the combat system had been refined to match that of a MMO and the gambit system was an excellent addition as well. judging by the considerable amount of time it took just to complete the story I was quite shocked to find that there were still numerous side quests to entertain the player beyond the rich storyline. Balthier was a great character that contrasted Vaan's personality so much that I pretty much pretended that Vaan didn't exist. The characters in this game show a great deal of intelligence and that was nice, as i was growing weary of the constant cliche teenager, who's intelligence is laughable at best taking center stage for the duration of the adventure, but I digress this is one of the best games of the series and a must play for any veteran of classic RPG titles.
