Warning: Could be bad for your health. One of the best RPG's ever!
The game has an excellent storyline and a cast of characters you will actually care about. With some of the best graphics seen on the Ps2. Square-enix really pushed the Ps2 as far as it could go. You will travel across a Massive world with so much variety of locations. From Deserts to Mountains, to beaches, to snowy glaciers to enchanted forrests it has it all. Exploring this terrain in a 3rd person perspective with complete control over the camera. All wild beasts that you will fight will be visible (well almost all) so you can avoid them if you wish, you can also flee when ever you start to get pwned XD
Once the prologue is finished you will set off on the main quest. Your objectives will always show up on the map so you will never really get lost. You have the option to do sidequests when ever you want like helping people out for a reward or hunting marks. This is a good way to level up your character which will make boss fights a lot easier later on. The main quest will take on average about 50 hours but if you do every side quest you'll be pushing on to 100 hours of gameplay. It is great value for money!
The battle system is very different to previous FF games and I think it works really well. The only problem for me is that boss fights often involve a lot of trial and error, and once you find what the boss is vunerable to it is pretty easy to defeat them. Its hard for me to explain but I think the battle system needs to be more balanced in the future.
I'll close by saying that I highly recommend this classic game, especially to those who have never played a FF game. And I warn that it may be bad for your health, as you can easily begin playing and then stop and realise that 8 hours has gone by in the real world. Its not like its World of Warcraft, but you may have a similiar reaction because of its addictiveness. 10/10
