Final Fantasy strays away from the original formula, does it work? I sure as hell think it does.
Graphics: 9
The graphics are pretty much amazing. The movements are great, the backgrounds are great, and the character designs are great. Everything is great, but not superb and worthy of a 10/10.
Sound: 8
The music in FFXII is very well done. The orchestrated pieces match the atmosphere very well, but the pieces aren't quite as epic as they were in FFX, which leaves a lot to be desired.
Gameplay: 9
The new battle system worked extremely well, the addition of gambits, non-random battles, and the license board leave a lot of new material which other Final Fantasy games lack...somewhat. If you love the standard FF system, you might worry about the new battle system, but don't, it honestly works very very well, adding a much-needed twist to the series before the old formula became stale.
Value: 9
Took me about 50 hours to complete, not including all of the esper sidequests, hunts, and quests for superior weapons. Not much replay value, but one play-through is definitely enough to make the game worth the money.
Tilt: 10
Square-Enix was very successful with the new formula. It works perfectly, and is an extremely refreshing addition to the series. The game is just plain fun, that's all to be said.
