Good/Bad points about Final Fantasy XII
GAMEPLAY
Well, for one, I have to say the gameplay is quite stunning and better than I thought it would be. The random battles have also gone (Yay) and you can flee from battles (Though not quite as easily as in the GBA games) The box doesn't say much about the game but... The learning curve is a bit long and even now, After 1 week, you might still be experimenting with other things!
GOOD
The character's behaviour can be adjusted, the game is one of the least linear I have ever seen, leveling up is quite fun and addictive, there are more options in this game than any other (Such as hunts, License boards etc) The worlds are also big and vast. Cutscenes are cool and the story is good. (If confusing at times) You might also spend more time doing things like exploring that getting on with the story because it is HARD.
BAD
It seems no-one likes how the combat is done. Basically you just press X and select attack and select your target and that's it. It's kinda boring actually. Save points are too far apart at the beginning of the game.
(I died after going about 2% into the story because I couldn't find a save point!)
GRAPHICS
OK. Here, we have the best ever graphics seen on the PS2. I expect loads from the ps3 if this is how the ps2 turns out...
GOOD
The animation is not flawed in any way at all. You can see cracks in the walls, crinkle lines on character's clothes etc
BAD
Facial hair sticks together (Get the game and zoom into your character and you'll see what I mean)
There are no proper shadows or reflections (Something Square Enix forgot to do!)
SOUND
This is some music I actually like. Even though I am deaf and have to have a hearing-aid to hear music, It sounds beautiful. Just stunning.
GOOD
Beautiful music that almost everyone can like.
BAD
When watching a cutscene over and over again, the music can get a bit samey.
VALUE
Ok um...GET THIS GAME! It is absolutely brilliant. The only reason I can't give the game a 10.0 is because of the combat system. Everything else is just perfect. Just get this game. No questions asked.
