If you love to watch a game FF XII is for you

User Rating: 6.9 | Final Fantasy XII PS2
I remember playing FF games as far back as on my NES, and knowing they were among the best games ever made. Final Fantasy VII was a huge step forward in gameing, and really showed what the PS1 could do. One of the best things about the series is that it's always inovated, always made the game new and different.

In FF XII, we see that innovation, simply for the sake of innovation, can have negative effects. FF X was an incredible game, and I don't recall anyone anywhere saying there was a problem with the combat system. Proveing the old rule of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", Square Enix chose to completely revamp the combat system. Now, with the new "gambit" system, you can actually play the game without controlling any of the characters in combat. That's right, your main interaction with the characters is to move them around the screen. It's "Walking Around The Country 2.0".

On the plus side, the graphics as good as you'll ever see on the PS2 and the score is excellent as well. The characters aren't terribly interesting, and the story line has plot holes you could fly an airship through.

Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the game.
