i love final fantasy...but since squaresoft combined with squareenix...you get a game like this

User Rating: 7 | Final Fantasy XIII PS3
i was waiting for this game ever since i beat final fantasy 10. x-2 wasn't good and neither was 12...so i anticipated this game, but when i played it, i was pissed. first of all the dubbing is horrible. the voice actors sound like they just are reading from a script and not putting any effort. there is no free world roaming (like in the older ones before 10) which makes you just follow a path...literally (except for one part of the game where you can roam for sidequests).

honestly i was very confused with the story. even when i beat the game, i still had no idea what the game was trying to say during the plot. i guess the story didn't really capture my interest like the previous ones did. if you are a final fantasy fan, you remember how in each of the previous games, all the characters you play with bond throughout the journey and it shows. in this game however, it just seems like they wake up one morning and they're all best friends.

i needed another paragraph just for this one part: vanille is the most annoying thing in the world. worse than bug bites. worse than a terrible game. her accent is a mix of god knows what. every scene with her, she makes this annoying sound. it's like "oh" "eh" and a bunch of small annoying sounds. i'm not a hater. play the game and you'll see what i am talking about.

now on to the better part of the game. the graphics are amazing. cutscenes are obviously great. the way SE made upgrading weapons is a good part of the game. this is because to obtain some of the items needed to upgrade the weapon, you need to travel and find it (during a side quest or something).

gameplay...there is none. you only need to use up, down, L1, x and circle.

overall i give the game a 7 only because i know this could have been better. this was almost as disappointing as ff12. sorry ff13 lovers, but this is nothin compared to the psx ff games. it just seems like the series is getting worse. but i'll keep buying FF
