All in All Good, But Imperfect

User Rating: 9 | Final Fantasy XIII PS3
Final Fantasy 13 has been waited for for years, and now that it is here was it worth the wait? That answer is an absolute yes. The game revolves around the lives of 6 heroes: Lightning, Snow, Vanille, Fang, Hope, and Sazh. They all have touching stories and are likeable characters, although Vanille can easily get on your nerves. They are regular people living on Cocoon, one of two planets in the game the other being Pulse, who find themselves turned into L'cie, which is a very unknown race. The story of this 13th installment is a very touching story but leads to a lot of linearity within the actual gameplay. As you progress you while be able to set up your characters into a party of 3, where you can setup up to 6 different paradigms, which are a battle system where each character in your party is set to one of 6 roles. You switch between these paradigms to figure out what works good for fighting...and what does not. This system is very fun except for the part where for most the game your party is set to certain characters (because of the story, as previously mentioned) and they only have 2 or 3 of the available paradigm roles, and another bad part is that once you unlock all the roles for your characters the new roles are useless to upgrade for them. Even though the gameplay is linear, it is still a fun and exciting way to play. The games visuals also look absolutely stunning, and you will definetly see the most amazing visuals in the planet of Pulse. With a touching story, amazing graphics, exciting gameplay, and loveable characters this story although imperfect is definetly a game any RPG lover should play.
