Its like buying a shiny new lamborghini.... without having the engine

I have played every final fantasy game out their including chocobos lagoon though I didn't learn japanese so it was very difficult.
I got this game with the limited edition guide and every thing else it could come with which I'm pretty sure the guide was it. I bought the game with the highest expectations. I didn't care what the people who had gotten the Japanese version had said I was about to embark on the next final fantasy adventure! I put it and watched the opening scene such beautiful graphics such majesty! I start it and watch lightning kick the crap out of all the guys on the train and thought to my self awesome pure awesome. Got to the combat and ignored the x mashing for.... 12 chapters.
I'm going through the plains just after you leave cacoon and it hits me I slow down lightning stops in the middle of combat the screen paused and i just say "What have i done, 26 hunts down haven't advanced the story line and i don't know why. O wait yes i do it isn't as compelling as the other ones. I feel like I'm watching a soup opera in HD. This combat is like playing wac-a-mole on my controller just keep smashing the same mole until you win occasionally having to put a quarter in (R1 button)." Now I'm stuck in those plains trying to make myself at least finish the story but I cant.. I cant.. bring myself to torture me like that. I put the disk in then just stair at the screen and say "NO! Never again!"

Honestly me even a die hard fan couldn't bring myself to finish this, the game play feels so so unfinished and not thought out. Overall i wouldnt recommend this unless you like watching soap operas in HD and mashing buttons. BTW to everyone who thinks I just don't like the sappy lover story esc story lines my favorite FF is 9
