Repetitive.

User Rating: 8.5 | Final Fantasy XIII PS3
The first thing you notice while playing Final Fantasy XIII is confusion. Eventually the characters' story comes together and the real story behind the game begins. The bosses and mini-bosses provide good challenges for strategic game-play. And, having characters with their own initial techniques and weapons, make for some very interesting party combinations.

While the characters and the graphics make the game worth buying; on the other hand, players, especially the loyal fans of the franchise, will notice many repeats from the past Final Fantasy games. The storyline is similar to X, the characters to VII, and the names and types of some of the Cie'th that you fight comes from popular children's books/movies. One cannot help but compare this game to the ones of the past. Not to mention, Square Enix is now using pop songs for the overall themes?! At least the song was a good one.

In whole, the game is a good RPG and a great introduction to the latest platform, but it could have been a lot better. It is definitely not the best in the series, but worth playing all the same. This game-play experience will leave all players with the same thought: hopefully Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be much better than its counterpart.
