The most accurate word to describe this game is "disappointing."

This game has incredible graphics and visuals, an acceptable story, good characters, amazing environments, and some interesting game mechanics. But, it's just so freaking boring. You don't realize how important towns are until they're missing from the game. The weapon and accessory upgrade system is mindless. Remember the days when you carried a bunch of weapons and changed them based on the enemies that you were fighting. That doesn't happen anymore because you have to put all your components into one weapon for each character. You can't build different weapons for each character and change them as part of a strategy because there's no point, and you don't have enough components to do it.
The battle system feels as though it was added on as an after thought. It's like they said, oh yeah, we have to let people play it, otherwise it's a movie, not a game. There are too many amazing things that your characters do in cut scenes that it feels as though they don't really need you to play the game. The whole point of an RPG is to immerse yourself in the characters. Why should I watch the character perform some acrobatic maneuver and kill the enemy? I should be playing that. I should be doing that.
I'm just really disappointed in this game. I don't know why the developers thought this was something that people would enjoy spending time playing.
