If I wanted to torture myself, I only need to bash my skull against the corner of my desk.
I quickly discovered that FF14 was only for the insane. It's a world where autistic children thrive and neckbeards mingle. You end up fighting every aspect of this game and if you complain about it, the neckbeards complain back. The user interface is clunky, slow, and redundant. If you want to craft an item, you literally have to go through a jumble of menus just to do it once. I'm talking 8+ clicks just to get to the point where you actually start crafting. As for the crafting system itself, it's way too detailed and annoying. To craft a simple piece of armor that isn't your starting class requires a ridiculous number of crafting materials. If the bazaar wasn't so horrible, I guess I could buy these items, but the bazaar consists of going up to random people and checking their inventories until you happen across the thing you need. No there is no auction house. That would make sense.
I feel that if all I am doing is fighting the mechanics of the game, it's not worthy of my time. This game is no game for a casual gamer. Unless you plan on basically spending 40+ hrs a week on this, don't bother.
I know eventually some updates will come out that will fix most of the problems with FF14. The question is, is this game really worth the time sink required? I don't think. I have had just as much fun playing a coop game with a friend that actually gives me rewards in reasonable amounts of time. I don't understand why games think it's necessary to grind your life away. Do we really need a game that takes years and years to play? I guess MMOs are just not my thing.
Why can't I get an MMO that isn't tedious, time consuming, grindy, and stupid?
