User Rating: 9 | Final Fantasy XIV Online PC
A couple of years ago Square Enix released an online game called Final Fantasy XI. It was a success in the MMO world and is still played today by many people. But now Final Fantasy XIV Online is here. Is it any good? Is it better than Square Enix's last MMO? You bet it is! This game isn't just better than it's predecessor but it's probably a whole new update to the MMO franchise. It takes everything you know from Final Fantasy XI, polishes it very thoroughly, shines it and redoes it in the most splendid way. Fans of many MMO games will adore this and never look at MMO's the same way again. But what makes it so good? Well I'll tell you. You start of the game as your own made up character in this new world called Eorzea. There you choose what warrior you want to be and you explore the world of Eorzea. At first there aren't that many jobs you can do but as you progress through the game you get new missions, battle giant monsters and meet other people Online. There are battles and tournaments Online as well so you can put your skills to the test in these fearsome battles. Though like all Action RPG's, MMO or not, there are sometimes random battles you can get into. When you bump into an enemy, the overworld music changes. That's the warning that an enemy is nearby and you have to defeat it. The battles can either be short and quick or battles can be long and hard to deal with. Battles what are TOO long can get boring after a while so try to defeat the enemy quickly. There are many useful items which come from the enemy after you defeat it as well so it's a good thing that you get into can battles most of the time. After you go through all that and being prepared for future missions, you can start training at the Coliseum. You can battle many other player here. So it really can show you how powerful you really are. As the years in the game progress more missions will be available to play and some of them could even interact with the story quite a bit. There isn't that much of a story to the game since it's an MMO but for an MMO the story's pretty deep. Though let's get to the game's flaws now. The missions are a bit restricted in a way that even I can't handle and can get pretty annoying to say the most. The game can also seem like a step back for the genre because of this but it really isn't. Still it's a pretty good game and if you have time I suggest you pick it up. I'm giving this game a 9.0 out of 10 because of its brilliant graphics and music but could have a little bit more freedom in most missions.
