What a waste of time!

When the Anniversary edition was first announced, I was thinking that this could be a chance for the original Final Fantasy to step up to the calibur of 7, 8, or 9 in terms of graphics and gameplay. This was the opportunity to out-do the Nintendo DS and have a great Final Fantasy title with old-school feel. But what do we get? Just the old-school feel wrapped in an old-school package. It's the same game people...you know, the one from 1987? But it looks "oh so pretty!" No it doesn't! They could have outsourced the work to Falcom (those wonderful people who brought us Y's and the Legend of Heroes Trilogy) and it would have really looked like something. It's amazing that it's the the same graphics except cleaner. The overworld map is still flat, the chharacters haven't been improved that much...it's not visually impressive. With some work, this could have been done on the SNES. If you're a die-hard Final Fantasy fan and just want to run through this one YET AGAIN, grab it up. It's a good story (not great by any means), and you'll get a dozen or two hours out of it. Otherwise, grab up a pre-owned copy of Final Fantasy 1 & 2 on ONE CARTRIDGE for the GBA for about $15. Hmmm...half the price, two games...I think I can live with the ooriginal graphics for that deal. Especially since Final Fantasy 2 will be $30 when it's rereleased as well. In fact, why not buy FF1&2 on the GBA and Legend of Heroes 1 for the PSP? You'll have 3 games for the price you'll pay for one! And you'll have one with even better graphics!

Overall, I think Square should have at least put together a trilogy package for the PSP. THEN it would have been worth the $30. Save your cash for the GBA versions. I didn't have to buy the game to know it was a bad deal...
