A good venture into the SRPG world.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance doesn't do anything new or flashy or amazing. But it combines proven elements to provide a good gaming experience. Not the toughest nut to crack, it may be a little easy for gamers looking for a really hard SRPG challenge. It carries your typical sort of RPG plot with a 'save-the-world' motive (even though that part isn't clear at the beginning), and stars your typical teenager-come-hero protagonist. There is a nice variety to the cast, though at some points the characterization falls a little flat. There are a few frustrating things in the game, and also a few unfortunate downfalls. The lack of a multiplayer mode especially sucks. After spending hours building an awesome army, it would be nice to be able to face off against friends who's actions are much less predictable than the AI's. Overall, though, this is a fun game. It's a good first venture for Intelligent Systems and the FIre Emblem series into the world of 3D. I give it the stamp of approval and a warm recommendation.
