The GBA Fire Emblem games are great. They are very near and dear to my heart (as far as video games go), but Nintendo and Intelligent Systems definitely made a better Fire Emblem in the form of Path of Radiance on the GameCube. The first time I played it, the Sacred Stones was still fresh in my mind, and I got really angry because Path of Radiance didn't have anything to do between chapters to fight and train your characters, so I had a hugely negative mindset throughout my first time playing the game. But now, during my third time through, I finally realize how great it really is. The 3-D graphics are impressive, the gameplay is familiar but feels new at the same time, and the story is terrific. As young Ike, a mercenary in training, you must eventually make your way across the entire continent and become the hope of all the oppressed people in the land by fighting the evil country of Daein. It's great to be able to use bonus experience points earned in each battle to award to certain characters you want to train but are too weak to really fight. The skills you can give to your characters is a new addition to the series as well, and added some more depth and fun to the game. I also really liked being able to forge specialized weapons. (Pink silver swords with maxed out attack and hit % is my personal favorite item to make). It's also just a really fun game to play. If you like strategy games, you've got to play this. It's a truly fantastic game.
