You Just don't see games like this anymore!

At first glance, FireEmblem, might look like an average if not mediocre, simplistic styled game. The thing that made me pick this game up was the fact at how it looked very old-school. Anybody that has played suikoden (the first and second ones), know what I mean. Although there are only a few cutscenes compared to the amount of reading involved, the story is quite fantastic.
The way the game is lined out is that you have chapters in which you begin the chapter with a review of the previous chapter, then a brief intro to the next chapter, then you go to your "base", whereever that might be. Then there is a battle. After this is where the story picks up. Depending on who survived the previous battle (yes there are no revives in this game), the story can change in many ways. When you are done with this, then the next chapter begins. This may be a simplistic design, but it really works.
The gameplay is very simple, but not overly simplistic. If you have played final fantasy tactics, then you should have no problem just picking up this game and playing. My favorite part of the battles is that when you are about to attack someone, you can tell just all of the details of the outcome of the battle before it happens. You get information on the chance of a hit, damadge you WILL cause, their health, and their defense points.
Fire Emblem just proves that you don't need the best graphics to make a really good game. This game just made me want to play suikoden again. I am unable to see what you could change in this game to make it better.
All around, this was the best value game that i have boughten in a very long time. I would recommend this to any rpg fan.
