The great series of Fire Emblem jumps to 3D in Path of Radiance. If you've played the recent FE's, expect the same gameplay and storyline as the previous titles. The gameplay keeps it on par, with great mechanics and a few new concepts. These concepts include different skills that you can assign to each unit like always attacking first, and sometimes attacking twice in a row. There are hundreds of different skill combinations that can aid the units you choose. There is also bonus experience, which allows you to give the extra experience you earn in the battle to the units of your choice. This new concept takes the place of arenas, and free roaming battles, so you can still earn plenty of needed experience for the most units in any Fire Emblem game. You can also craft your own custom weapons. The gameplay is overall addicting, which is what attracts so many gamers into full-fledged Fire Emblem fans...like me.
The graphics more than do the job, but the in-game graphics almost seem a bit too busy. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the graphics are not perfect. There are about 8 different movie clips within the game, which are just plain beautiful, but it would have been nice if there were around 15 to 20 movie clips instead of 8.
The sound is just what you would expect from Fire Emblem, but some of the effects are either way too loud, or it almost sounds like the sword is hitting plastic instead of armor. Nontheless, the sound effects and music are very attractive.
My biggest beef with this game is I feel like I could play it on the GBA and not miss a beat. Fire Emblem is a GREAT GBA game, and in my opinion, it should stay that way.
