The console port of the Fire Emblem series shines like a beacon, and gives Gamecube players something new to play.
Once again, you take control of a clueless child, just becoming a stronger warrior.
Ike is a son of a warrior, being trained to eventually take over as commander of a band of mercenaries. After you complete the prologue, which as per usual in the Fire Emblem series is basic training and getting used to the controls and new functions, the band Paladin, Titania, decides to give Ike a chance to get some field training, by taking him to a distress call from a village near the coast, complaining their are bandits stalking their town.
You stumble across an important character, which begins conflict, which eventually morphs entirely in war, as the Fire Emblem games are good at doing. As you progress through the various lands and islands, you come across classic FE classes such as the Paladin, the Lord and the Sniper, plus many, many more. A particular element in this game that is not so much noticed in the previous games is that you must harness simultaneous strengths by pairing up classes for attack, making it possible to develop good enough strategies to complete the game.
Fire Emblem : The Path of Radiance offers the same fun and brainstorming action as the previous games do. It is rare within a franchise, but I suggest to any new Fire Emblem players that they play this game first, as the explanations of the rules of the overall layout of the game will help any player become more tactical and skilled in playing these games. Only after that should you move to older but surprisingly harder games such as Sacred Stones.
