Fun and Addicting
User Rating: 9.5 | Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken GBA
Fire emblem is one of those games that you pretty much need to get for a certain system. A combination of a fantastic story, believable characters, a unique death system, and beautifully rendered battle scenes make this game a must have for the GBA. You start the game as Lyndis, and the first ten chapters serve as a sort of tutorial to get you familiarized with the game. Then it shifts over to Eliwood, whose campaign makes up the bulk of the game. The way Lyn and Eliwood's stories intertwine is wonderfully done, and the secondary characters all have unique and interesting back stories. Fire Emblem is mostly a strategy game, so battle is turn based. You play the role of tactician for the "band of mercenaries", and must show units where to move, and who to attack. The shift from strategy screen to battle screen is flawless, as individual units partake in fighting, they are on almost "platform" type things, where the computer calculates the percent of landing a hit, how much a hit will do, critical damage chances, etc. In the end, a fantastic battle system along with an engaging story make this a must have game for the GBA. although it is getting on in years, look to see if you can find it on a used game shelf or something, because its definitely a game worth having.
