I didn't even realize this game existed until GameSpot showed it randomly one time in one of their game reviews listings. This one is seriously underrated! Whereas most other fishing games focus on brand placement (ads!) and same-old-same-old arcade gameplay, this one takes an ambitious step forward in providing an RPG-like experience within an otherwise seemingly run-of-the-mill fishing game. The result? A game which gives you plenty of things to do! Lots of fishing quests, items you can use, places you can go, and so forth. I've only played it for a few days, and already I'm thoroughly impressed. I've played many fishing games, and this is definitely one of my newest favorites. The graphics are amazing for what the Wii is capable of. The fish models look very detailed and colorful. I often stare in awe while playing on my big-screen TV, amazed by the level of detail the game designers put into the water effects and scenery. The gameplay feels just right, and the reeling controls and Wiimote feedback give you a really good virtual fishing experience. In real life, you wouldn't stare at a stationary point while fishing. This game recognizes that, and gives you the ability to adjust your view, zooming in/out to/from the end of your fishing line to watch for fish bites, etc. The sound is relaxing, as it should be.
Such a shame that this game doesn't receive the exposure or recognition it should be getting. Seriously - rent it and try it out. It's not a true fishing simulator (of which I've yet to see), but it's a heck of a lot of fun.
I'm gonna make this short because there is a ton of stuff to go over and I don't feel like writing it all. I will say that the Gamespot review was bad and incorrect. The Good- Tons of different places to fish. Lots... Read Full Review
