Anyone remember destruction derby? Well its back and better!
After playing this game's career mode for a few minutes, when I had bought my car and generally got myself comfortable with the controls, I found myself feeling a couple of things. an awesome sense of achievement when I completed a race and a great fondness for my Renault 5 esq car. This only got better as I was able to improve my car via an easy upgrade shop (everything from suspension and wheels to turbo and engine tuning) and subsequently win more races. It only continued up until I tried my first derby race. A large arena with 10 or so cars in a circle ready to smash and crash into each other until only one remains. After replaying this mode about 20 or 30 hundred times purely for the pleasure of it I decided to check out the other modes available. Cue the rather inspired sporting events. Bowling, high jump, skipping stones. these were all achieved by firing the driver from the window and seeing how high / far / many pins you could hit. great fun although a bit clunky at times but obviously immense fun seeing the driver smash in slow motion from the car, rag dolling over an oversized comedy environment.
After this I figured there was just the multi-player left. I logged onto windows live and decided to try and find a derby game. 5 hours later I decided to play a different mode like a race or something.
Some of the best fun I have ever had.
Now a few of my friends have this game. So it has become endlessly more enjoyable
one niggle. If someone pulls off a pit manoeuvre on you and your car catches on the front of theirs the AI just keep driving. That's it... my only niggle. done.
Excellent game buy it now. and it was only a couple of quid off steam. Best value for money ever.
