Flower is a very original game that has quite the potential to be something great, it's just that I can't think of how.

For ten dollars Flower is a very good deal. The glorious graphics, animation and effects are complimented by the relaxing game play. There is hardly anything to the concept except that you start as one flower pedal and guide it along with the sixaxis motion (DS3 compatible) and hit other flowers to blossom them until colour consumes the environment. There are only six levels and speaking honestly it takes about an hour to complete the game. There is re-playability though; as it is quite a relaxing game.

The issues start with some of the later levels being too dark to begin with like the city is a dark and evil place and it takes away from the whole fun of the game of just enjoying the bright a vibrant environments whilst floating about. These levels even have obstacles that just shock your little flower pedal and wind parade. When the game adds a purpose to itself like this, it is almost as if it removes it's originality. Another issue is the controls. Motion controls in this game and only having to press "x" to speed up works fluidly, do not get me wrong. However the option to use the analog stick to maneuver would have been appreciated. Another issue is the simplicity in which it presents itself. With no options what so ever, your left with nothing but these six levels. The later ones are not very enjoyable, say for the very last one when the city gains colour, then it is good. Some sort of create a level or free roam would have made this game even better.

When it comes down to it though, Flower is a breath of fresh air, and if you have the means then you owe it to yourself to see what this new game is all about.
