Simply bright and beautiful.

First off I'd like to say I didn't actually intend on purchasing this game, but it was given to me by my hubby for a Valentine's Day present. Something just as beautiful as real flowers, and a little easier on us since if they were real our cats would have chewed through them by now, lol.

Story ~ The story actually starts off inside of what looks like a small apartment which is set in a very bustling and loud city. And right in front of the window is a little flower inside of a flower pot. Despite it's pretty color, the flower still seems sad and droopy. As will each of the flowers as you unlock the stages. Basically the idea of the story is that each flower is reminiscing of the meadow or plains that it originated from. Almost as though it's wishing it was back there. And to brighten this little flower's mood, you are to take a single petal from the flower to help bloom all of the other flowers in each level. And when you do, that flower on the windowsill it's mood will be considerably better by straightening up and blooming. It's almost poetic.

Gameplay and controls ~ The gameplay is very aesthetic and smooth. Colors are bright and pop out at you. Each blade of grass moves uniquely and blows in the wind realistically. Controls are very simple using the SixAxis control system. Strange how a lot of people still find that a very frustrating ordeal, but here it's integral and does it's job well. You use any button on the controller to speed up the wind while gradually maneuvering all your petals around to touch flowers. There are certain flowers that must be opened as some are how to unlock the next area in a specific lvl. Those are always the easiest to spot because they hold an obvious pattern to discover while floating over them.

Music ~ The music in Flower also plays a big role. Even though the musical score has already been written for each different level, it almost feels as though you are helping compose the score. Each little flower itself when opened presents a musical note sound, so opening a large string of flowers in succession produce a wonderful collection of tones in the score.

So all in all, I've enjoyed the game immensely. It is disappointly short, and you can definitely beat it under 5 hours. Replay is minimal but gathering those last few trophies you missed on the first playthrough will be all that I can see most doing. I won't provide any real spoilers, except that if you are a very impatient person I would recomment changing the time on your ps3 for one trophy. I'll leave it at that. Unless you just want to swirl through the breeze enjoying the relaxation that is Flower. It's definitely something you would want to snuggle up to the couch or bed , to relax and do something simple yet powerful. I would recommend this game to anyone who would like to try something new.
