A Decent Hack and Slash I'd recommend for a rental...

I'll keep this short. I'll admit that if you've play the Lord of the Rings games, then in many ways, you have already played this. The action is similar just different story, characters and a few different game mechanics. Demon Stone is a good game...it just has some problems that might irk some people. Primarily, in my case, the problem was with the ally AI. The AI isn't terrible but that are moments where one may wish that the developers had flushed it out a bit more. The ally AI in this game just doesn't seem to help you out when it matters most and you may feel like you are the only one doing anything at times. This may not bother some but it lowered the quality of the game for me. Graphically, the game is nicely put together considering the amout of chaos going on on-screen. The character model are fairly good and there is little slowdown. The backgrounds to the stages are perhaps the best thing about the graphics in the game. Some simply just look good and make you want to sit and stare at them for a while. Backing up the graphics is a well done orchestral soundtrack. While maybe not as epic as perhaps The Lord of the Rings, it is a strong musical score in its own right and fits in the game well. The battle sounds are ok though I feel they could have been a bit better. The voice acting is quite good and and I can't complain about it at all. Now, after you complete the game, what are you to do? Honestly, if you just like hacking away at things, play agaiin on a higher diffulculty. But if you are looking for some type of co-op multiplayer, I am sorry but you won't get it here. It would have made the game much better to go through with a friend but alas, the developers only made it a single player game. Because of lack of multiplayer or any LIVE support, I don't see a lot of value in the game except for the occasional play. The game is good and for the price of 29 dollars, it may just be worth your time. However. the lack of good AI and multiplayer may steer you away from this game. For a D & D fan, these things may not bother you at all. I recommend a rental...or a purchase if you have the money and just love the hack and slash genre.
