State of the Site: March

Hey Hey!

One person’s April 2nd is another’s March 31st—and I’m not just talking about time zones. Anyway, please go play Kingdom Come II because it’s fantastic. I’m also looking forward to trying out Avowed next!

Tickets

With Q1 wrapping up, I’m hoping we can start dedicating more time to GameSpot. I was able to push for priority on resolving the GameSpot Stack Issue since I know that’s been a major concern.

We’re also working on embedding BlueSky, though we’ve hit a few understandable technical safety snags that have slowed progress. This includes reviewing some user suggestions, so if you’re still interested, please keep filling out the BlueSky embed form. This helps me track the signal (no, not the messaging app where we accidentally added a reporter to a conversation about military plans) versus the noise.

Merch

This will be a recurring update, but due to various T&S projects, we haven’t been able to push this forward yet. The good news? Every stakeholder is on board, and the ideas I’ve pitched—both for GameFAQs and future Giant Bomb merch—have been well received.

Modcast

We’ve recorded the pilot episode of the Modcast, featuring mods from each of the N&R sites (minus TV Guide and Metacritic, of course). It’s currently awaiting final approval.

Collaboration

As part of my efforts to foster internal and external collaboration, we’re starting to see more interest from video game developers and publishers reaching out to explore potential partnerships. More on that soon!

Additionally, we’re still working on bringing more wikis on board and continuing the Fanatical promotion tied to GameFAQs content. We’re also exploring more cross-promotion opportunities—especially since GameSpot serves as a great hub for that kind of content.

Closing

I had an April Fool’s joke here, but let’s just say it didn’t land well on the GameFAQs side of things. Considering it’s already the 2nd, I’ll spare you. 😆
