Byshop told me before that this is the place to ask why comments get deleted. I posted a comment in the Tomb Raider Rhianna Pratchett article recently that went something like this;

"BranKetra, I wonder if you are Rhianna Pratchett? You sure like to go out of your way picking apart other people's comments to match her views."

Can someone tell me why this was deleted. I was just asking a simple question and meant no offense. Thanks

Your comment was deleted as the moderator in question felt (and we agree) that was not an "innocent question".

It is, in fact, what we commonly refer as bait. Something to entice a, usually, negative reaction out of someone.

Please be advised that text does not convey emotion or intent beyond what is literally written, so none of us moderate on intent as that is an utterly impossible measure to uphold. So, as a little piece of advice, write what you mean and mean what you write.

No moderation was taken besides deleting the comment. Feel free to continue to participate in that (or any other) discussion.

@Moonco: When multiple other users posted similarly as I have, but I was the only moderator to respond to your comments, I find it interesting that you would say that was a simple question. When folks ask loaded questions like that, it is closer to harassment than on-topic, outstanding discussion.

If you would like to have an open, reasonable discussion, the moderator team would like to encourage users to act with that behavior. However, saying things like what you did is not the way to accomplish that.

Thank you both for taking the time explaining the reasons why you felt that way. However, throwing around words like bait and harassment shows you do understand the meaning behind my original post. English is not my first language and sometimes, such as in this case, people make the wrong assumptions over what I intended to say.

Like I wrote before, my comment was a simple question. Nothing more, nothing less. I have no interest trying to attack someone and those who personally know me here can attest to that. If you are unsure of someone's motive then a quick PM can solve many things.

@Moonco: To interpret what my fellow moderator said about writing what you mean when commenting, it is important to understand the context of the situation before posting.

Does this make sense to you?

Not sure what "context of the situation" means but understood what Desmonic was saying. I will continue trying my best to write clearly.
