Just come over from Giant Bomb and it seems that GameSpot hasn't got any way of notifying me that I've been quoted? I thought the site could benefit from one.

I guess I'm in the minority here...I don't really want a feature like this. If the method of notification was the PM system or email, I'd rather not get flooded with PMs and/or emails from here. Also, the major flaw would be people that respond to you, but don't quote you. I find I'm able to pick up a conversation simply from my posting history.

I agree with you. This has come up before, and I've always thought it would be horrible to have. However, if there was an option to turn it on or off, then I wouldn't mind.

Not talking about PM's but the way facebook lets you know somebody has posted on one of your comments that way it's kept at the bottom of the screen and it wouldn't be intrusive. I do agree however that allowing it to be turned off would be a good idea if only for customization purposes.

I believeit should be able to get turned off if a user wants to.

We could either do it by e-mail or make a separate section in your profile just for quoting history

For what it's worth, if you wish a user to be notified that you have responded to him, preface your post with this: @username. The user will be notified via pm that he has been mentioned in a comment. I've found it to be extremely helpful, and until a quote notification feature is added, it's a great way of indicating you have responded.

But that only happens in comments (and I do use it a lot), but it doesnt happen in forum posts, right?

If that could be done with forum posts on top of that, then that would be great. I also thought the Facebook-type thing with little notifications at the bottom of the screen would be helpful as well.

I support this idea. For those users who get quoted all the time, maybe an option to turn this feature off would be welcome?

I think that is a great idea. I think you should receive a PM every time you were quoted. Of course, there should be an option to turn that off for those who don't want that.

I like the idea... I think it could be done where there is a button you can click and it shows all the quotes that have been made of you since your last visit.
