Now and then, when I click on a link, it won't take me to the intended destination, but instead to some strange site trying to offer me something. Like just a minute ago, in the "MAG Hands-On Impressions", I clicked on one of the "thumbs up" buttons for a users post, and it sent me to http://www.pc-game-downloads.net/c/Download-PC-Games.html, and continues to do so. What's up with this?
This sounds like a malware infection. Clicking one of those up/down thumbs should never take you anywhere else. I went to the article you mentioned and clicked a couple thumbs. Everything seemed to work normally. (The counters changed, and that was all.) I imagine they are working normally for pretty much everyone else too. That probably explains the lack of responses to your original question, even if it doesn't excuse it. It's tough to make heads or tails out of some reports, especially when they're just a bit too unusual. Anyway, the main suggestion that springs to mind is scanning for malware. Something else that might be easy to try first is to just go to a different computer that you are sure is clean, and access the site from there to see what happens.
I use Kaspersky, so I figured it really wouln't be worth worrying about. Unfortunately, this problem seems to be intermittent, and right now there aren't any examples I can find. Guess I'll just have to wait. Thanks anyway.
