BUG: Can't quote messages or edit posts.

When I try to edit posts (my own, or those of others in the union where I'm an officer) it tells me that I'm not authorized to edit those posts. Also, when I try to quote people (not quick quote) it tells me that I cannot quote posts in another thread. Please help.

Yeah, I just discovered that quote problem as well...glad (in a way) to see I'm not the only one having this problem.

same here.... I can not updated the menu... or change the title of threads... I can edit some post (no made by me) after numerous try.

I get one of this errors:

"you are not autorize to edit this message"

"you are not autorize to create a mssg in this thread"

Dracula or any other staff: sorry to bugs you.. but would it take too long to fix this? It creating double posting, unable to update news thread.... I regulary do not have issue with the glitch but this is troublesome.. Thx :oops:

I've temperarilly stickied this thread as there are too many new threads being made about this issue, and it would be helpful to have one place to discuss it.

Seems the bug is still here, unfortunately. One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't apply to every post. Some posts, seemingly random ones, can be quoted and edited, and they seem to be connected, as one might expect. For example, Drac's post in this thread, I could apparently both quote and edit properly.

I just wish I knew what was different between that post and all the posts that can't be properly edited/quoted.

Odd, I originally though that this was post-specific, but it seems more weird than that. Every time I have clicked the quote button for Drac's post in this thread, it brought me to the submit new post thing fine, but with this post of your's here and Thorpe's before you, sometimes it would work, sometimes it would give an error.

Of course, it's possible some changes are being made right now that could be effecting the issue.

The error happened in the General Games Discussion Forum, the Xbox 360 Forum, The RPG Temple Union and the Off Topic Forum so far, in multiple threads, so at least for me and another person in my union as well this isn't an isolated incident.

I know the error is wide-spread, that's not what I meant by post specific. This is affecting every user, in threads and posts on every forum. But there are brief cases where quoting or editing does seem to work. Such as right now.

Previously, I had assumed that if a particular post could be quoted once, it could always be quoted, and also edited by anyone with permission. If it couldn't be quoted by one person, then no one could quote it and also it couldn't be edited. By post-specific, I meant some posts are bugged and never work, and a small amount aren't bugged and always work.

But earlier in this thread, that didn't seem to be the case. I couldn't quote a post, then could, then couldn't, then could.

It won't let me edit or delete my posts either.

And after I post in a thread, all of the posts except the original post disappear.

Yah, I've noticed those issues. Sometimes a thread or page of a thread disappears and shows up empty, and sometimes the original post is gone but the rest of the thread shows up fine. Both of these will usually correct themselves over time. Probably somewhat related to all the other issues going on now, such as PMs and quoting/editing.

And right on a weekend. Perfect time for all this to happen. :D

it seems that we can edit some post.. I can edit some of mine post and someothers i can. Same with post of others. Thus i have not idea of what is the different between them.

I guess that this is also related... Now I can not deleted messages.. I try to deleted a message (bc for some reason double posted) I couldn`t it report an error:

"You need to be a mod. or the owner of the post to delete" Even thus I was the poster and I am a officer on taht union.

this is something that NEED to get fix ASAP (hopefully fast)... controlling forums like this is crazy.

BTW: i do not know if this is related, but i created a "bulletin" on an union. It was showing and then it dissapeared :? (just in case may be related to this forum issues)

I can't edit either... I was just about to make a thread about this.

Gamespot has been seriously buggy this week... ridiculously so. I can only hope that you guys are making some sort of massive update that will make this the best site in the world, but I know that isn't happening. Just Gamespot being Glitchspot like usual I guess.

I've also run into this problem when attempting to edit my posts. A workaround seems to be to log out and then log back in to the site. You'll be able to edit your posts for a short while before the bug starts again. This workaround doesn't work every time though.

My guess is that a cookie is set to expire too quickly so after a while the site can't properly identify logged in users.

Concerning posting on Gamespot...

- Cant edit my posts or the posts of others in unions i'm an officer in.

- Can't delete my posts or the posts of others in unions i'm an officer in.

- Can't post replies at all sometimes on any board, no specific one.

- Can't quote other people at times either, i get a message saying i don't have permission to do so.

- Can't view some of the boards or topics within them, as i get the same message saying i don't have permission to do so.

I can quote, but God forbid I try to delete or edit my posts. Then things just go haywire.

The post counts shown on the forums are also all wrong.

I can quote sometimes, and other times I can't. I can also edit some times and other times I can't.

A new topic appeared in one of the unions I'm in, clicked on it, but the message didn't appear, thought if I put a New Message in, it may appear but all I got was the "404 Error" page.

Just a suggestion, but maybe the site should be shut down for a day or two until all the bugs can be fixed. I love coming to this site, but a day or two down to fix the bugs I think is livable.
